13.3b List tasks relating to moving and assisting that they are not allowed to carry out until they are competent

You are not allowed to carry out some tasks relating to moving and assisting until you have received proper training and are competent at the task. If you have not been trained, you may injure yourself or any other individuals involved unintentionally. Here are the tasks that you should not carry out unless you have received appropriate training:

  • Using assisted beds and hoists to move and assist individuals
  • supporting an individual to transfer from a bed to a chair
  • helping an individual with daily assisting routines like bathing
  • moving an individual on and off the toilet
