3.1b Describe how the duty of care affects their own work role

Your duty of care can affect your work role in a myriad of different ways. While working, you must ensure that you keep the interests and wishes of individuals at heart so you are able to fulfil your duty.

For example, a coworker might mention that they do not have the appropriate resources to provide care due to poor working conditions. As part of your duty of care, you would then be required to pass on these concerns to someone such as your manager to resolve this issue. This will ensure that the care given is up to standard.

The Code of Conduct sets out the standards expected of you in your work role. As a carer, you should take the time to familiarise yourself with it so you are aware of how you should act in your role.
