Your organisation will provide information about communication and the methods and processes used will vary between employers, so it will be useful to speak to your manager about this. For example, your organisation may have relationships with particular charities that can provide specialist advice or they may have a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist in-house. You may also decide to seek advice from external organisations to improve your own practice.

If you have any issues with communication you should seek guidance straight away to avoid misunderstandings and frustration. For example, you may need to seek advice if an individual’s communication needs have changed or you are nit sure that communication has been understood or retained.
