First and foremost, you should respect an individual’s right to privacy and obtain their consent before allowing access to their personal information from others. Similarly, you should respect their wishes if they do not want to see one of their visitors and politely inform the visitor of their decision. If in doubt, you should check with your manager.

In some organisations, visitors to the premises must report to reception to be signed in and issued with an ID badge.

Visitors should be denied access if you are unable to confirm their identity.

If you observe a stranger on the premises, you should challenge them. You should politely enquire why they are there and who they are visiting and escort them to where they need to go. You may also need to check their identity.
