As a lead carer, you will have a responsibility to promote understanding of active participation to others. This could include the individual’s family, co-workers, the wider public and even the individual themselves.

Methods of promoting active participation include:

  • Taking time to explain the importance of active participation to others
  • Ensuring that new starters are trained in the use of active participation
  • Role modelling active participation in your daily work
  • Sharing your own experiences of how active participation has made a difference to the lives of others
