Describe how own values, belief systems and experiences may affect working practice

Qualification: Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care
Unit name: Personal Development in Care Settings
Learning outcome: 2. Be able to reflect on practice
Assessment criteria: 2.3 Describe how own values, belief systems and experiences may affect working practice

We should resolve to not let our own experiences, values and belief systems affect our working practice and to resolve professional at all times.

We are all individuals and our experiences and beliefs shape the way we think but we should also be respectful of the views of others.

For example, a care worker may detest motorbikes because they have had loved ones that have died from motorbike accidents. Although this opinion is valid, the care worker should not use this view to discourage the individuals that they care for from using motorcycles. They should respect the individual’s right to make their own choices.
