Recording progress in relation to your personal development (usually on your Personal Development Plan or PDP) means regularly reviewing your goals to check if they have been met and if you are on the right track.

This is important because it will evidence that you are working towards your goals and get you back on track if you are off course.

It also helps us to remember our achievements as well as evidence them to any future employers.

It is also important that your organisation has a record of the skills of each of their employees so that they can match tasks to the best personnel.
