Qualification: NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator
Unit: Unit 1.2: Support healthy lifestyles for children through exercise
Learning outcome: Be able to support children’s exercise in an outdoor space
Assessment criteria: Reflect on an activity which supports children’s exercise in an outdoor space
Following the planning and implementation of an outdoor activity, it is best practice to take some time to reflect upon how successful the activity was in meeting its objectives.
This reflection can take place either individually or as a team. It is helpful to document this process so that future planning and programming can be informed by your findings.
When reflecting on an activity, it is important to consider the following questions:
- What went well?
- What could be improved?
- What would you do differently next time?
It is also useful to consider the following factors:
- The weather conditions on the day
- The age and abilities of the children involved
- The level of supervision required
- The resources and equipment used
Once you have considered all of these factors, you can make recommendations for changes to your plans for future activities to ensure the implementation continuously improves over time.
