There are a number of policies and procedures that relate to the health and safety of children in an Early Years setting. It is recommended that you are familiar with all of your organisation’s policies and procedures and can identify the ones that are related to health and safety. Some examples may include:
- Mobile phone policy and procedure
- Collection policy and procedure
- Activity planning policy and procedure (including carrying out risk assessments)
- Fire safety and evacuation policy
- Security policy
- Cleaning policy and procedure
Policies and procedures that relate to health and safety are designed to keep children, staff and visitors safe during day-to-day activities. They will be informed by current legislation, regulation, statutory guidance and best practices.
