Qualification: NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator
Unit: Unit 2.4: Use legislation relating to equality, diversity and inclusive practice
Learning outcome: Be able to use information, advice and support to promote equality, diversity and inclusion
Assessment criteria: Reflect on ways information, advice and support about equality, diversity and inclusion can be used to inform practice

In the previous section, we looked at some of the sources of information, guidance and support relating to equality, diversity and inclusive practice.

For this assessment criterion, you will be required to reflect on ways that this knowledge could be used to inform working practices.

Reflection is the process of thinking about your practice and identifying areas for improvement.

For example, if you were aware of a colleague who was experiencing discrimination at work, how could you utilise your knowledge to support them? You might turn to your organisation’s policies and procedures to find out how to report your concerns or ask for advice from more experienced colleagues.

Or, if you were planning a training session on equality and diversity, how could you ensure that the content was appropriate and relevant to your audience? This might involve consulting with stakeholders, conducting needs assessments or conducting research.

Your reflection should demonstrate an understanding of the importance of using information, advice and support to inform practice. It should also identify ways in which you could utilise this knowledge in your own work.
