This unit is part of the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator and has the following learning outcomes and assessment criteria:
- Understand theory and current frameworks which underpin children’s speech, language and communication development.
- Understand how the Early Years practitioner supports the development of speech, language and communication of children
- Describe the role of the Early Years practitioner when supporting the development of speech, language and communication
- Describe the benefits to children’s holistic learning and development when supporting speech, language and communication development
- Analyse how the use of technology supports the development of speech, language and communication
- Be able to create a language rich environment to develop the speech, language and communication of children in own setting
- Be able to lead activities which support the development of speech, language and communication of children
- Plan an activity which supports the development of speech, language and communication of children aged: 0-1 year 11 months, 2-2 years 11 months, 3-5 years
- Implement an activity which supports the development of speech, language and communication of children aged: 0-1 year 11 months, 2-2 years 11 months, 3-5 years
- Reflect on own role in relation to the provision for supporting speech, language and communication development in own setting
- Be able to critically evaluate provision for developing speech, language and communication for children in own setting
