This unit is part of the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator and has the following learning outcomes and assessment criteria:
- Understand the role of observation when working with children
- Understand observation methods
- Understand professional practice in relation to the observation of children
- Be able to carry out observations in own setting in line with current frameworks
- Observe in line with current frameworks: an individual child, a group of children, indoor provision, outdoor provision
- Reflect on outcomes of observations carried out in own setting in relation to: an individual child, a group of children, indoor provision, outdoor provision
- Work with others to plan next steps in relation to the needs and interests of: an individual child, a group of children
- Reflect on own role in meeting the needs and interests of children in own setting
- Be able to work with parents/carers in a way which encourages them to take an active role in their child’s play, learning and development
