This unit is part of the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator and has the following learning outcomes and assessment criteria:
- Understand approaches to planning when working with children from birth to 7 years
- Understand how to plan to meet the needs of children
- Describe information the Early Years practitioner requires to be able to plan to meet the needs of children
- Explain the reasons for identifying children’s needs, interests and stage of development prior to planning
- Explain the role of observation in planning
- Devise a plan to meet the needs of an individual child
- Explain why the Early Years practitioner involves others in planning for the next steps of children’s development
- Explain the role of the Early Years practitioner in encouraging parents/carers to take an active role in their child’s play, learning and development
- Describe reasons for tracking children’s progress
